Ductless heat pumps have grown in popularity because the are extremely efficient and highly flexible in their installation characteristics. There are several system components and options that make-up a modern all-weather mini split heat pump:

• Zoning: Single zone or multi-zone? The simplest choice is a single outdoor unit with a single indoor unit. However for larger, more broken up spaces you can combine up to 8 indoor units on a single outdoor unit. All things being equal, single zone systems are more efficient than multi-zone.
• System Sizing: The heat loss and gain of each conditioned zoned needs to be carefully calculated by a professional. If your equipment is too large or small you will not be happy with the results.
• Standard or Cold Weather Heat pumps:
  • Mitsubishi standard units offer efficiencies of up to 24.6 SEER co0ling and 13.5 HSPF heating and can offer efficient heating to 5°F.
  • Hyper-Heating units offer true cold weather performance will full system capacity to 5°F and efficient operation to -13°F.
• Indoor Unit Options: Traditionally a mini split outdoor unit is combined with in indoor unit mounted high on an interior wall. More recently a number of additional choices of indoor equipment give consumers more options. These include canceled slim duct systems, ceiling cassettes, full ducted systems, or floor / low way units. These indoor units can be mixed and matched in multi-zone applications.
• Controls: While mini splits traditional are ship with a hand-help remote, they now can be part of complete home automation systems and app-based controls.
