Mini Split Maintenance Tune-up Checklist

As part of our ductless maintenance program, twice each year we'll thoroughly check and service you ductless heat pumps. Our tune-up check-list will vary based on the specific types and configurations of your system, but a common steps include:

System Inspection:

Check the the indoor and outdoor units. Ensure that they are properly mounted, level, and secure.
Inspect the unconcealed refrigerant lines and insulation. Ensure that refrigerant lines are properly secured and protected from mechanical damage.
Test operate the system in both heating and cooling mode to document any initial operating concerns.

Check the Indoor Unit(s):

Test any wired thermostat (if used). Test any handheld remote controls and replace any remote control batteries.
Inspect condensate piping and condensate removal system and any condensate pumps.
High wall or floor mount indoor units: Inspect the filters, clean and reinstall them.
Mini duct or ducted indoor units: Examine the indoor blower systems for proper operation. Clean ant components that are dirty. Change disposable air filter(s).

Outdoor Unit Checks:

Check the outdoor safety disconnect
Inspect that the outdoor unit is properly mounted, secure, and set in a way to prevent snow or ice accumulation during winter operation.
Inspect the outdoor unit blower.
Inspect the outdoor unit coil for damage or anything that might obstruct airflow and clean as necessary.
Inspect the high and control voltage connections.
Inspect outdoor unit contractors, capacitors, and controls for any evidence of ware or damage.

Operation Test:

Start-up system and test operation.
Operate each indoor unit in both heating and cooling mode. Ensure proper temperature change across all indoor units.
Check temperature change across the coil of the outdoor unit coil.
Check and note outdoor unit amperage draw.

Clean-up: Completely clean our work areas and make sure everything is neat and tidy before we leave.
Tune-up Report: We'll explain our work and document any potential problems or recommended repairs.
